Description

First Response is a 6 hour course and the certificate is valid for 3 years. It is the minimum requirement for Module 10 of the Scout Association’s leader training programme and is mandatory for all Appointments.

This course can be attended as a full or refresher course

Full course - complete the e-learning (2-3 hours) and attend the session

Refresher course - attend the session only (it is recommended you complete e-learning as a refresher)

People who completed the full course the last time may complete the refresher. You need to attend within 6 months of your old certificate expiring.

Please note there is a charge of £3 for non-Blackwater Valley participants to cover the cost of the book (if wanted) - please bring cash or cheque payable to 'Blackwater Valley Scouts'. First Aid manuals are available at a cost of £10.

What should I bring/wear?
Please bring a pen with you. There is no need to wear uniform and please wear trousers due to the practical work.

Will refreshments be provided?
Tea, Coffee & Biscuits will be provided. If you have any specific needs (e.g. decaf, soya milk), please bring your own on this occasion.

Is this a First AId Qualification?
This course will include a Scout & Guide First Response certificate which is not a recognised first aid qualification.

Is the course open to non-Scouts?
This course is only open to Young Leaders, Explorer Scouts, Network Scouts, Leaders, Other Adult members of Scouting and Guide Leaders. It is not open to the general public.

Is there an age limit to attend the course?
The course is open to Young Leaders and Leaders, so the minimum age is 14.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
There is car parking at Runway's End. The nearest rail station is Aldershot or Farnborough Main, if you need collection from these stations, please let us know in advance.
